Lest we Forget

Hello Ruby Rock-It fans, welcome to my blog post today I am sharing with you a layout I have created in memory of the ANZACS to create this layout I have used a mix of pattern papers from different ranges.

ANZAC day is a special time all Australians as we celebrate the those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to enable us to have our freedom.

Products Used:
Magic and Wonder MAW60 - Mini Themes Magic & Wonder Stripe, Doodles DLE69- Paperworld Doodles Design 4, Doodle DLE83- Paperworld Doodles Design 6, White Cardstock, Ink from Tim Holtz in Weathered Wood and Grey, Light and Dark grey Inks and a brayer, Black and Red Stabello pencils, Fude Ball Pen in Black and a White pen.

Method:

Take your white cardstock and Inks

Ink around lightly with the Smokey Grey and then reink the edges with the Weathered Wood ink.

Then I took the Doodles Stripes I have cut one inch off 2 sides to make it 11 x 141 inches and adhered it to the center of the white cardstock with the back being the upside the back. I have then applied 3 dots in random ares of both paints

Then using my brayer I have spread the paint over the page it wont go all the way to the edges nor will it be a total coverage.

I have then used a long stamp to add some marks to the edge of the paper see the below image.

I have then added some random circular stamping followed by some long stamping.

I have then take the other Doodle Papers and torn off some 1.5 inch wide strips that are approx 6 inch and 5 inches long and I have then cut a white photo mat and adhered these after inking the edges to my page.

I have then taken a Fude ball pen and gone around the edge of the Doodles Stripe paper

I have also then gone around the paper edges with the fude ball pen and then on the black paper with a white pen.
I also have then added some metal elements to my page along with a small piece of the Crafters Choice Bling.

At this stage I have also used my Red and Black Stabello pencils to highlight the edge stamping and the photo mat.

TI have then added my photo to complete my layout.

I hope you have enjoyed my blog post and found it inspiring. Kim

Steam Punk Inspired

Hello Ruby Rock-It fans, welcome to my blog post to those who know they know how much I love Steam Punk and the new Bella Steamworks Mini Theme Collection is just up my alley.

It is so industrial and fanciful I just loved the look of each each.

Products Used:
SKS75 - Bella mini theme Steamworks Invention, SKS82 - Bella mini theme Steamworks Clockwork, SKS99 - Bella mini theme Steamworks Odds & Ends, FCY92- Paperworld French Country Worktop, Bella Bling Silver & Gold metallic, White Cardstock, Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Ink Pad.

Method:
Take the white card stock and then take the Bella Mini Theme Steamworks Invention sheet and cut 1 cm off each side of the Bella Mini Theme Steamworks Invention sheet

Now take the Paperworld French Country Worktop page and tear to the size you would like

now take the Steamworks Clockwork and cut from it which cogs and mandalas you like

You can see from the below image how I have started thinking about the placement of everything on the paper

Now to mount your photo I have used the back of the Steamworks Odds & Ends taking care not to cut up or use the card that says "Success Lies in the Journey not the the destination" as I have used this to create the heading and the image of the flying man is my embellishment. I have used different thickness of foam mounting tape to achieve some height and depth for the cogs, BUT don't stick them until the final step of your layout.

The below images shows the piece I have cut down.

You will use it this side up, the below image show. I have then used the left over Steamworks Clockwork and cut a mat slightly larger than the Steamworks Odds & Ends

You will now need to ink all edges of the card stock and paper with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo ink. You will need to layer your photo mat papers and your photo as seen below.

You will see from the below image to give the paper a rusted look i have lightly inked it all over with the Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Ink

I have then started playing with my photo placement and cog placement see image below.

I have kept playing with the placement of my cogs and photo and have even added a new mandala cut in half to make the flow of the layout better.

I have then Taken the card that says "Success Lies in the Journey not the the destination" and cut the 3 title line out  as seen in the above image and placed them onto my LO on the right hand side of my photo and I have roughly cut the flying man out and inked all the edges and placed him also onto the LO as you will see below. I have also then taken some the amazing new Metallic Bling in Silver and Gold and added to my layout just to give it some bling.

Your layout is now finished.

I hope you have enjoyed my blog post and found it inspiring. Kim

Positive thoughts card

Hello Ruby Rock-It fans, today I am sharing with you a card I have created created using the papers from the amazing Cosmos Mini Kit.

Many people never think to use the scraps from projects they make I know that I have a huge collection that builds up and then I tend to cull to the bin of a give away pile, but lately I have taken a new approach and when I make a project.

I set aside 30 mins or so to play with what I have remaining from left over papers and have started to form a collection of hand made cards that people are happy to receive and appreciate more than a store bought one.

The Cosmos collection is absolutely perfect for making cards with a positive theme.

To make this card I have used the scraps from my previous project using the Mini Cosmos  Collection Themed Kit.

I looked at the papers left and found pieces that would suit the size of the card and then went through the piece of the Cosmos Mantras paper for words that would be suitable to use on a card.

Then I have also cut from the Cosmos Mantras sheet an image that I felt worked with the words and have used that.

I have inked all the pieces of paper including the card with Tim Holtz Black Soot it just finishes the cards and grounds and softens the edges of the paper.

You can also use any scraps of paper to decorate your envelope and the inside of your card.

Products Used:
CMS44 - Bella Mini Theme Cosmos Universe, CMS51 - Bella Mini Theme Cosmos Mantras,  GZ06 - Glitz Cardstock Silver 1 Silver card.

I hope i have inspired you with my card creation. Kim Kendell.
