Helmar and Book Binding

I am sharing with the most awesome technique that I have learnt from attending an amazing class with the super talented Seth Apter using the old fashion binding techniques.

We started the class but covering the product we had chosen for our covers and I elected to use a cut down cover of an old book my book is 2.5 x 2.5 inches yes its that small. To adhere my paper to the covers I have used Helmar Craft & Hobby PVC Glue and its works a treat.

You will see from the following photos' how i have covered my cover and created the spine on my book the spine is separate folds of card held with PVA to make the attachments for the pages.

Once you create the spine the rest is so easy to make you have your pages cut and then you start adding them and decorating them with collage using lots of layers I have have also used the Helmar Craft & Hobby PVC Glue spread thinly to adhere my collage items down. I will now share some of the pages from my mini book with you it is still far from finished with the layers which will include having stamping and pen work to make marks added.

The Cover as it stands now, I am still working on what I will add to finish this off

The inside over the cover and first page

The next spread in my book

The follow spread shows how you can use anything to be a page I have used a tag in this case and washi tape is held with Helmar Craft & Hobby PVC Glue as it is not a permanent tape but a reposition able tape so you need to adhere with a permanent glue.

And again look for elements that can be hidden or peeping out in your collage work

6

Always try to find elements that can add interest

8

and you can see my page on the right is still under construction with lots of layers happening

And this will be my final page and in side back cover when finished

And this is the back cover

I hope you have all been inspired by this awesome little mini book and how simple it is to make using Helmar Craft & Hobby PVC Glue.

Thank you for looking

An Art Journal Page

Good morning Memory Maze fans today I am sharing with an art journal page with you I have created in the Dina Wakely 6 x 6 White Journal.

I find the texture of the paper in this journal to add beautiful texture and depth to any creation.

I have used a variety of following products; Paper Artsy paint, Seth Apter's Izink Ice, and Pigments.

I love how the chipboard has accented the vintage feel of this art journal page, I have used Seth Apter Izink Pigments and Ice on them.

The beautiful Memory Maze corner flourishes I have used can be found on the website.

I hope you have enjoyed my blog post.

Beautiful for Helmar Australia

Good morning Helmar followers. I hope this blog post finds you and all your family well in these challenging times.
Today I am sharing a layout with you that I have created used my go to glue Helmar 450
This is my Layout I love the softness of the colours and papers I have used

My first step in creation of this layout was after selecting my papers and cutting them was to layer and adhere them with Helmar 450,

Once I had completed this process I then added my photo and started layering my embellishments,

I have found that Liquid Scrap Dots is an awesome product for giving some lift and dimension to embellishments

Under the vellum embellishments I have use Helmar 450 with just the tiniest amount to adhere them and it doesn't show though as can be seen on the bird embellishment in the above image.
I then finished the layout off with coffee coloured ink.

Happy scrapping and stay safe, Kim

Hi Helmar fans and followers its Kim here today sharing a tag album I have made on my daughter and her partner.

In Australia we have just had one of the worst summers on record with fires and it has made me realise how important family are and what actually constitutes family.
Family can be what we all immediately think of but, in a crisis family can take on a very different meaning and form, such as people whom may not even know each other taking in the bush fire victims into tho their homes and providing a home too them for the duration of the fire. It was a very humbling experience to see people open their doors to the huge number of affected families for many weeks and made me feel very proud to be an Australian.

Today I am sharing an album I have created using large tags on my family specifically my beautiful daughter.

I have used my all time favorite glue from Helmar that being Helmar 450  you only need such a small quantity of this glue to adhere you projects I smear the glue with an only card over my tag then place my paper on and smooth out with my hand then have used it to adhere my title and embellishments through out the album.

On the following page I have used used my Helmar 450 to even adhere my acetate embellishment.

I have used Helmar 450 here to adhere all items on my page even my photo.

The paper doily in this photo is also adhered with Helmar 450 I have just used a very small amount.

And lastly yes again every thing on this page is adhered with Helmar 450 as I have said its my all time favourite glue.
